Once confirmed as a viable option, and after completing the necessary designs, piles are installed at precise locations and depths. Jacking heads are then positioned on top of these piles, with the toe of the jacking head carefully placed beneath the slab.
The jacks are then gradually lifted one at a time, with levels continuously monitored using laser equipment to ensure accuracy. Once the structure has been lifted back to the required level, the piles are permanently concreted in, and the surrounding area is reinstated. The structure can be raised by as much as 50mm.
While this technique is particularly suited for single-storey buildings, in certain cases, it is possible to apply the same method to lift a two-storey structure. Shire has successfully utilised this method across the UK, restoring a wide range of structures to their original levels.
