Design Service (New & Repair)
Our Structural Engineers focus on creating responsive design solutions to either new build project or repairs to existing buildings, that are either being changed or suffering from damage in some way. We employ and develop engineers from entry level Junior CAD Technicians through to Senior Structural Engineering level and Members of the Institution of Structural Engineering. Our people are our greatest asset and our mentoring, training, CPD and qualification programmes ensure our team stays at the forefront of their specialism.
Whether small or large, we’ve worked on projects up to a value of £50m in a wide variety of sectors including residential, education, leisure, healthcare, commercial, rail & many more. Our structural repair team can also design new & replacement foundations for demolish & rebuild projects. Take a look at some of our case studies or see what our customers have to say about us.
We have a team dedicated to designing responsive solutions for the domestic insurance sector and private clients directly. We have completed the structural repair and foundation strengthening of thousands of properties located throughout the United Kingdom. We will survey, inspect and investigate a property to determine the cause of damage, and then design a suitable repair scheme that always takes into account the need to reduce the impact on the homeowner or resident. We specialise in buildings damaged by fire, flood, subsidence and impact damage.
Shire are on English Heritage’s list of approved Structural Engineers. We have extensive experience in the renovation and repair of historic buildings including churches, castles and timber framed structures. Our experience includes buildings with listed status at varying grades.

Research & Development
We love a challenge! We were first asked to find a solution for repairing terraced houses in the City of London that had restricted access but needed structural support. That was in 1998 and the Shire Pile was created. Since then the R&D team at Shire have developed more products with a focus on restricted access, concrete-free, easy to install, removable and recyclable for a wide variety of applications. And there are plenty more solutions on the way. Contact us if you have an engineering challenge we can help to solve.Find out more
