Shire Pile Rail Platforms
Shire installed its first piles for network rail in 2014.
Shire piles were used to support Driver refuge platforms and Signal L.O.Cs on the reading redevelopment.
Due to limited possession time it was essential to come up with a solution to piling these light weight structures that removed the need for Road Rail Piling rigs.
Steel platform superstructures were replaced with F.R.P platforms.
The light weight FRP structures were hand ported to site without the requirement for possession time.
The hand portable piling rig was carried to site along with all piles and tooling.
Platform positions were scanned, piled and platforms assembled by a 3 man team within a time frame of 4 hrs per platform. The project was completed on time and on budget, without disruption to the track. All engineering was signed off on completion.
