Historic Buildings - Many architecturally important structures in brick, stone and timber have been inspected over the years.

At Ashby Saint Legers, Northamptonshire, a general appraisal of the manor house structures included a Lutyens designed building and the timber framed 'gunpowder plot' room, part of the manor's gatehouse. Shire Consulting was later commissioned by Viscount Wimbourne to prepare a detailed scheme of repair for parts of the main stone manor house.

The attention to detail in survey and analysis is always present no more so than when working with architects on Quinquennial survey projects for churches small and large. At Cleobury Mortimer we were appointed to assist with the repair of the crooked spire at the church of St. Mary the Virgin. A detailed visual inspection and survey was followed by a 3D computer structural analysis of the twisted oak frame and its timber cladding.

Subsidence Investigations - Shire Consulting have investigated subsidence claims for commercial and private clients together with most of the UK's leading insurers. The team of building surveyors, geotechnical and structural engineers are experienced in surveying, identifying the reason for and recommending how to economically and safely correct structural damage or defects in buildings.

Dilapidation and Maintenance Programmes - Shire Consulting have surveyed and prepared schedules of repair and maintenance programmes for both traditional and system forms of construction.

Shire Consulting were commissioned by Sandwell Council to visually inspect and prepare schedules of defects for some 50 public buildings owned by the Council. The portfolio included Council offices, schools and public sports facilities. The schedules of defects were sub-divided by work type and degree of urgency allowing the Council to award repair contracts on the most economic basis and to plan 10 years of programmed maintenance.

3-Dimensional Surveys - Shire Consulting's building surveyors have surveyed and prepared many thousands of plan and elevation dimensional survey drawings of building structures. Our CAD teams now offer 3-dimensional survey drawings to assist in the planning of in-building services and systems and photo-realistically rendered photomontages and visuals produced from the drawings in order to assist the town planners with the task of gaining planning approvals.
